Bellway Homes submitted a speculative planning application to Wiltshire Council on Tuesday 12th May 2026 to build 135 homes on the north west part of Home Farm, alongside the Dene. Access will be from Boreham Road through a significantly enlarged Home Lane entrance.
The application number is PL/2026/02717 on the Wiltshire Council Planning site.
The application states “135-dwelling C3 scheme with parking, landscaping, SuDS, open space, access alterations, partial wall demolition and new vehicular/cycle/pedestrian routes”.
The consultation finish date is given as Friday 12th June 2026.
However, in the United Kingdom, people can usually continue to submit comments or objections on a planning application even after the official consultation period ends — but there are important limits.
What the consultation deadline means
The consultation period is the time during which the local planning authority formally invites public comments. Comments submitted before the deadline are expected to be considered as part of the main consultation process.
After that date:
- The council may still accept and consider additional objections or supporting comments up until a decision is made.
- Late comments generally carry the same weight if they raise valid planning issues.
- However, very late submissions may not reach the planning officer or committee in time.
What matters in objections
Planning authorities mainly consider material planning considerations, such as:
- Traffic and parking impact
- Noise, overlooking, loss of privacy
- Design and appearance
- Environmental impact
- Flood risk
- Heritage concerns
- Effect on local character
They generally do not give weight to:
- Personal disputes
- Loss of property value
- Competition with existing businesses
- General dislike of the applicant
If the application goes to committee
If the application is referred to a planning committee:
- Additional representations may still be accepted before the committee meeting.
- Some councils allow residents to register to speak at the meeting.
Practical advice
If you want to object after the consultation period:
- Submit comments as soon as possible through the council planning portal.
- Focus on planning reasons rather than personal opinions.
- Check whether the application has already been recommended for approval/refusal or scheduled for committee.
EBBRAG committee is busy formulating a strategy to object which will be circulated to all.
EBBRAG would like all members to write a letter of objection to Wiltshire Council. EBBRAG will circulate the main areas of concern shortly. This of course does not stop any one of EBBRAG members from raising an individual objection to Wiltshire Council through the planning portal.
