Following on from the previous post about the Home Farm allocation for housing being removed from the Warminster Neighbourhood Plan, an EBBRAG spokesperson writes:
The Town council has released a statement referring to the rewrite and the withdrawal of site allocation for the Neighbourhood Plan rewrite. The key points were:
- “Results from the community demonstrated that around 40% of those who responded were in favour of the allocation, with 60% against.
- The Land East of the Dene (also known as Home Farm on Boreham Road) was the key focus for many community respondents.
- Looking at this feedback, it is clear to the Steering Group that there is not sufficient public support to keep the site allocations policy, and the Plan needs to be updated to reflect that.
- We know there are implications for the town as a result of this outcome, which were made clear in the consultation. Removing site allocation means Warminster will not be actively directing where its required housing should go; and what it should, and should not, contain”.
It is unfortunate that the Town Council have used these words, when the Planning Advisory Committee unanimously rejected the speculative application for Home Farm and Ashley Combe – interestingly Brick Hill Farm application appears not have had the same scrutiny.
The Town Council have the old Warminster Prep school site as an opportunity for residential development, but sadly have failed to capitalise and act on this. A brown field site with playing fields in the centre of town – wow!
People still have until 2nd July to object to the speculative planning application by Bellway Homes for 135 dwellings on Home Farm – you, as can you family, relatives, neighbours etc, can object on multiple reasons – please, please do so. The more objections the better and if you need help to lodge an objection, please contact EBBRAG. Submit your objections to the Wiltshire Planning website.

We have realised that with all the speculative development applications currently coming forward in Warminster, we need to combine to protect the town and the countryside around it. We are trying to rally support from the other areas to combine to make a real voice to be heard!
